Hepatitis C is curable, and Medicaid can help make sure the cost never gets in your way. If you live in Pennsylvania and need to apply for Medicaid or renew your coverage, here's how:

Step 1: Apply or Renew Online Through COMPASS

Step 2: Or Choose Another Way to Apply

  • By phone: Call the Consumer Service Center for Health Care Coverage at 1-866-550-4355.
  • In person: Visit your local County Assistance Office. They can help you apply and answer questions in person.
  • By mail: Download a paper application, fill it out, and send it to your local County Assistance Office.

Step 3: Gather Your Documents

  • Proof of household income
  • Social Security numbers and birth dates for everyone in your household
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status, like a birth certificate or driver's license
  • Current or recent health insurance information
  • Information about resources like bank accounts, vehicles, or property

Have a Disability and a Job? MAWD Can Help You Keep Your Coverage

Medical Assistance for Workers with Disabilities (MAWD) lets you work and still keep your Medicaid coverage. You may qualify if you:

  • Are between 16 and 64 years old
  • Have a qualifying disability
  • Have a paying job
  • Meet the income and resource limits

MAWD comes with a small monthly payment based on your income, usually around 5 percent. If you're already on Medicaid, ask your caseworker about adding MAWD to your case. If you're not yet enrolled, mention MAWD when you apply.

Step 4: Track Your Application

Check your status anytime at trackmybenefits.pa.gov(opens in a new tab).
